While we allow ourselves some latitude for menu creativity, we ensure our culinary roots remain authentically Montanan. This is true for the ingredients we choose, the way we prepare our food, and the names we’ve chosen for certain menu items:
This pie got it's name from the Madison River - A tributary of the Missouri River that flows through Montana and Wyoming. This 183 mile river is located just 35 minutes from our first location in Bozeman, Montana and is a haven for anglers, rafters, and kayakers.
The Flathead Valley in Northwest Montana holds a special place in our hearts - Since 2007, this is actually where the headquarters of MacKenzie River is located after relocating from Bozeman, Montana. This region of the Big Sky State includes Flathead Lake (Montana's largest lake), the town of Whitefish & Whitefish Lake, Western Glacier National Park, and so many other amazing outdoor spaces. We even have a location in Saddlehorn Marina on Flathead Lake!
“Stockman” A person who owns or raises livestock such as cattle or sheep. This is our hardiest pizza - the perfect pie to order after a long day of work and aptly named after some of the hardest working Montanans.
Our most popular sandwich is named after a census-designated place (CDP) in Gallatin County, Montana, just 45 minutes away from the very first MacKenzie River in Bozeman, Montana. Willow Creek is named for the willow-lined creek that runs through the region - A great place to catch a Rainbow or Brown Trout!
Our most commonly ordered item, named after the Lodgepole Pine - a tree native to the state of Montana.
You'll notice our menu often features seasonal items with Huckleberries in them - these small, round berries are related to blueberries and cranberries but they grow in the underbrush of mountains in Northwest Montana. These little treats are often referred to as "Purple Gold" in Montana and they're valued enough that locals keep harvesting spots as cherished secrets. We feature these every summer as a part of our 406 (the area code of Montana) Summer Fare.
